Position Summary Performs a variety of tasks pertaining to the preparation of food for patients and non-patients. This includes preparation of meat, starches, vegetables, soups, modified diets, ethnic foods and other food as requested on the tally sheet according to standardized recipes and set up and serve hot food on patient tray line.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbal and written forms of English.
  • Two years restaurant or experience as an institutional cook preparing large quantities of food preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Some post high school culinary arts training preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be at work and be on time

  • Prioritize and multitask
  • Prepare quantity foods for patients, cafeteria, catering, and doctor’s dining room, follow cook’s preparation methods according to standardized recipes.
  • Set up and serve hot food on patient tray line according to patient tray tickets.
  • Follow HACCP guidelines for all steps of food production, Title 22 and JCAHO
  • regulations for food storage, safety and sanitation.
  • Demonstrates the ability to apply infection control policies/procedures for safe food handling.
  • Demonstrates ability to prepare & cook food for hospital special events.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform other related duties.
