About The Position

Liberty Senior Living is currently seeking an experienced Cook. The Cook will be responsible for food production, following recipes, assisting with recipe modification and development, and adhering to production schedules based on forecasts. The Cook will prepare foods while maintaining nutrition, flavor, appearance, tenderness, and quality, and will implement menu changes as directed by the Executive Chef. The role also involves preparing foods to meet the special needs of individual residents, documenting special items preparation, and advising the Executive Chef of inventory needs. In terms of food safety, the Cook will utilize safe food preparation methods and maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen at all times. This includes monitoring temperature records and checklists for holding and storing equipment. The Cook will also create a positive dining experience for customers, encouraging participation in the dining program and soliciting feedback to improve food quality and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Cook will monitor meal portion controls, assist with ordering and stocking food supplies, and actively participate in quality performance in all job responsibilities. The Cook will support the departmental mission and the 'Liberty Cares' mission, applying the necessary knowledge and skills in nutrition and culinary services. Other duties may include reporting items in need of repair, assisting with resident evacuations in emergencies, and participating in special event preparations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma.
  • Two or more years of restaurant experience.
  • Must be able to operate standard kitchen equipment.
  • Attends trainings and department meetings when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Follows recipes and assists with recipe modification and development.
  • Follows production schedules based on forecasts and tallies.
  • Records and reports over-production, underproduction, and waste.
  • Prepares foods using methods designed to maintain nutrition, flavor, appearance, tenderness, and quality.
  • Offers and prepares appropriate substitute food items when a dislike occurs.
  • Implements and records menu changes as directed by the Executive Chef.
  • Prepares foods to meet the special needs of individual residents.
  • Documents and communicates special items preparation.
  • Advises Executive Chef of inventory needs, usage, and shortages.
  • Utilizes safe food preparation methods.
  • Monitors temperature records and checklists for holding and storing equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary kitchen at all times.
  • Ensures and assists with cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas.
  • Creates a positive dining experience for customers.
  • Encourages participation in the dining program and meal activities.
  • Solicits feedback by interacting with customers.
  • Monitors meal portion controls to meet customer requests/regulations.
  • Assists with ordering, receiving, stocking, maintaining, monitoring, and tracking food and supplies.
  • Participates in and promotes teamwork and cooperation within the department.
  • Looks for and reports any items in need of repair to the Executive Chef.
  • Assists with special event preparation, set up, and tear down.
