Requirements

  • Previous culinary experience in a scratch kitchen
  • Excellent knife skills
  • Positive, upbeat attitude
  • Attention to detail; cleanliness
  • Ability to walk and stand during the entire shift if needed
  • Ability to interact and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, team members and guests
  • ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handlers Card
  • Successful candidates must meet eligibility criteria, including the ability to undergo and successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screen in accordance with applicable State laws and regulations.
  • Ability to provide documents for work authorization.

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • This job involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and a kitchen environment with fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise.
  • Employees must have the physical stamina to stand for long periods, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and vibration may occur.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all food is produced in a high quality, timely and consistent manner to meet all menu and customer standards.
  • Follow café guidelines concerning guest services, food and physical safety, maintenance and equipment/space cleaning, requirements at all time.
  • Prepare food items, ensuring consistency and compliance with the Cafe's recipes, portioning, cooking, and waste control guidelines.
  • Have the ability to develop rapport with customers while upholding the values and mission of Thomas Cuisine.
  • Set up and stock sandwich/sliced station with all necessary supplies.
  • Handle, store, and rotate all products in the station or walk-in cooler properly.
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
  • Follow proper techniques and proper presentation of all dishes.
  • Practice correct food handling and food storage procedures according to company and state regulations.
  • Maintain positive, respectful, professional approach, communication, and workplace conduct with customers and team.
  • Report all unsafe working conditions, operational needs, and equipment or aspects of the kitchen in of repair to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Cook or Chef.
