The Cook S04 position at Cornell Dining involves independently preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold foods for customers in a dynamic kitchen environment. Under general supervision, the cook will engage directly with customers and work in an open kitchen that is visible to patrons. Daily tasks include preparing a wide range of food items for dining rooms, cafes, and coffee houses, either in batch quantities or made to order. The role requires operating and maintaining various kitchen equipment, reading and converting recipes to ensure compliance with menu standards, and maintaining cleanliness and organization at assigned stations. Additionally, the cook will assist in portion control and maintain production sheets to record food prepared, served, and leftover. The position emphasizes adherence to sanitary, HACCP, and New York State Health codes, ensuring safe food handling and proper sanitation practices. The role is customer-service driven and requires flexibility, strong time management, and organizational skills. The successful candidate will embody Cornell Dining's Code of Professionalism and support its overarching mission. This posting is for multiple positions across Dining with various schedules, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The location and schedule assignments will depend on business needs, and the position may require regular evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
