Cook (PRN | As Needed)

About the position

The Cook (PRN | As Needed) position involves preparing, cooking, storing, and inventorying food for patients, cafeteria, and catering as directed in retail and patient services. The role also includes performing serving duties in retail and patient services as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food according to standardized recipes and production sheet needs, including portion control, garnishing, and presentation.
• Continue to improve cooking skills through flexibility in assignments.
• Store leftovers and prep food using proper labeling and within timeframes.
• Inventory food items as assigned.
• Maintain appropriate records of food temperatures, production, waste, and usage.
• Maintain and ensure food safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work environment throughout the shift according to the standards of the department, hospital, and regulatory agencies.
• Communicate to Management all food quality and availability issues, equipment status, customer, and staffing issues.
• Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance.
• Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation.
• Stop in the face of uncertainty and take time to resolve the situation.
• Demonstrate accurate, clear, and timely verbal and written communication.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• 1 year of related experience (Required)
