About The Position

The position of Cook involves working in various areas of food preparation, including meats, vegetables, bakery, and salads. Cooks are expected to have core competencies that include the ability to speak and understand conversational English, read and comprehend menus in English, and manage basic measurements and equivalents. The role requires multitasking and efficiency to maintain stock of menu items within the assigned area.

Requirements

• Ability to speak and understand conversational English
• Ability to read and comprehend menus in English including basic measurements and equivalents
• Ability to multi-task and work efficiently, effectively, accurately, and quickly
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, bend, stoop, turn, lift, talk, walk, and carry up to fifty (50) pounds
• Team lift required for anything over twenty-five (25) pounds or any awkward lifting.

Responsibilities

• Read English menus to accurately and quickly prepare menu items for the day and in accordance with projected ratios no later than 10 minutes prior to opening unit
• Visually observe food and discard food as necessary, tracking and informing management of any discarded items
• Keep assigned area clean and ensure walk-ins and reach-ins are clutter-free using restaurant-issued cleaning supplies
• Maintain master knowledge of food items and recipes to prepare food
• Assist in preparation and closing in all areas of the back of house when needed
• Discard, restock, and maintain all food items when closing
• Transition the next shift cook on current day's progress, menu items, and set-ups completed
• Prepare set-ups, maintain organized walk-ins, and complete cleaning/operational checklists
• Maintain attendance in accordance with the employee handbook
• Perform other duties, tasks, and/or projects as assigned.
