About The Position

Respect | Resilience | Integrity Kingsway Retirement Living is searching for a Cook/Lead Wait Staff to join our team. This position is responsible for providing superior food service to residents, staff, visitors and guests. Hours: Every other weekend 1pm - 7pm Casual on call Pick up shifts as needed DUTIES: Prepare and serve nourishing and attractive meals and other food as required to support the menu specific to diet orders and other facility events. Prepare meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure the utmost in quality with a minimum of waste. Review food menus to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared and to identify all foods required for therapeutic diets before preparing food. Set up food service counter in the kitchen. Ensure utensils, equipment and supplies are in place to ensure a smooth dining experience. Serve food and beverages according to guidelines. Give attention to detail with plate presentation. Ensure hot and cold foods are maintained at correct temperature levels. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work area. Operate dishwasher. Wash dishes, pots, pans, coffee urns, steam table, glasses and flatware. Break down work station and return all food items to proper storage areas. Ensure food is labeled, dated and stored properly. Remove outdated food items. Turn off all equipment. Restock items that were depleted or used during the shift. Work as a team with all facility staff. Utilize established safety and sanitation practices, rules, regulations and procedures to maintain safe and clean work environment.
