About The Position

The Cook/Kitchen Assistant will be responsible for assisting with food preparation and cooking for the PACT childcare program, HotSpot Food Station, and JWCC Catered Events.

Requirements

  • Food Handlers Certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Weigh, measure, chop, mix, and generally prepare ingredients as required by Sous and Executive chefs.
  • Prepare and assemble ingredients for various dishes according to recipes and following any specialized dietary requirements.
  • Cooking and packaging individual HotSpot takeout orders.
  • Prepare high-quality meals and ensure they are consistently prepared according to standard practices and recipes. Arrange and garnish food attractively on serving dishes.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and food handling regulations.
  • Keep work areas, equipment, utensils, and storage areas clean and sanitized. Washing required preparation and food service dishes.
  • Properly store food at the correct temperatures to prevent spoilage, in accordance with health code requirements, and in ensuring proper dating and rotation of stock.
  • Monitor food and supply levels - informing Sous and Executive chef of low or out-of-stock items.
  • Work effectively and communicate with other cooks, chefs, and kitchen staff.
  • Address customer issues with orders as needed.
