About The Position

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is seeking a Cook II PRN to join their team. This position involves working various cooking stations including AM Tray Line, Cafeteria, Salad, Dessert, and PM Tray Line/Cafeteria. The Cook II will prepare food for the patient tray line, cafeteria, and special functions, ensuring that food production requirements are met for patients, staff, and physicians. The role requires maintaining a clean and organized production area, following food safety and sanitation guidelines, and demonstrating good leadership skills.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalency required.
  • 1 to 2 years hot cooking experience required.
  • Ability to organize and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to work various cooking positions throughout the shift.
  • Prepares food for the patient tray line, cafeteria, and special functions.
  • Completes assignments in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Meets food production requirements for patient, staff, and physicians.
  • Properly covers, labels, and stores leftover products.
  • Uses first-in, first-out system for product rotation.
  • Ensures proper supply of product is available for cafeteria/patient meal service.
  • Demonstrates accurate food preparation techniques on modified diets.
  • Monitors the quality in foods prepared including serving temperatures, appearance, and palatability.
  • Insures food is ready and set up prior to meal time.
  • Monitors portion controls.
  • Responsible for clean and organized production area, reach-ins, and walk-ins coolers.
  • Follows cleaning schedules and cleans spills immediately.
  • Practices professional relations skills with patients, guests, and co-workers.
  • Attends mandatory department meetings and educational in-services.
  • Performs other related functions as assigned.
