About The Position

We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic Cook I who possesses the desire to care for Kentucky’s Veterans.

The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment to meet our commitment to serving Kentucky's Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care.

Expectations for this position include but are not limited to:
Assists in preparing and serving meals while maintaining dietary work areas, equipment and utensils in safe, clean and sanitary condition.
Prepares and serves palatable and appetizing meals in a timely basis and in accordance with sanitary regulations.
Tastes meals to determine if properly cooked and seasoned.
Ensures scheduled cleaning duties (dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, etc.) are completed.
Disposes of food and waste in accordance with rules and regulations.
This position, in the Bowling Green Veterans Center, Dietary Services Department, in Warren County has an approved Locality Premium of $4.97 in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(1).

Requirements

• EDUCATION: NONE
• EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of cooking experience in an institutional or large scale commercial setting.
• Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Vocational training in food service will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
• SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
