About The Position

AIP is looking a Cook II to work in Miami, FL. The Cook I assists Cook II in performing a variety of tasks concerned with the preparation and serving of food and beverages. Requirements

  • US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record)
  • Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance
  • Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests
  • Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements
  • At least 21 years of age
  • A high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Demonstrate an ability to work with a diverse population of people, including people of different cultures, with different values and lifestyles, with a cross-cultural perspective
  • Ability to greet and deal tactfully with the general public
  • Capability of following and interpreting/understanding written and verbal orders, policies and regulations, printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials
  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment, courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Prepare in quantities, by various methods of cooking a variety of foods including soups, sauces, meats, fish, vegetables, baked goods, etc.
  • Prepare foods for special diets
  • Plan cooking schedules so food is ready at prescribed times
  • Insure delivery of food at the prescribed times
  • Provide the measuring, mixing, and stirring, cutting, grinding, chopping and seasoning of ingredients according to recipes
  • Test foods for completion of cooking time and adjust heat controls
  • Monitor the baking, roasting, broiling, frying and steaming of foods as called for in recipes
  • Monitor the carving and dividing of portions into individual servings
  • Assist in the equipment training of detainees
  • Monitor daily operations in food productions for conformance to establish quality, quantity, safety and sanitation requirements
  • Review menus to determine type and quantity of food to be prepared
  • Draw required cooking utensils from kitchen storage areas
  • Load and unload delivery trucks as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned
