Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to understand and carry out directions and instructions.
  • Ability to work weekdays, weekends and holidays, alternating shifts with other cook(s).
  • Successful completion of ServSafe course upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience cooking in a healthcare environment.
  • Two to Three (2-3) years of experience in cooking with meal preparation.
  • Proficient with dietary needs.
  • Experience with Merrimack and state health regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares food for patients and residents for regular meals and on demand.
  • Ensures food supplies are appropriate and places orders when necessary.
  • Follows town and state health regulations.
  • Ensure clean kitchen and workplace, as outlined on cleaning task list.
  • Ensures food supplies are rotated appropriately.
  • Recordkeeping to include recording refrigerator and dishwasher temperatures to designated log daily.
  • Completes weekly menus, minimizing food waste.
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks as assigned.
  • Trains volunteers and per diem employees as needed.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Communicates clearly with patients, families, volunteers, and staff members.
  • Completes other assigned duties and projects as directed.
