About The Position

Bring your cooking talents and kitchen management skills as a Cook at Bright Horizons at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, NC. As a Cook with Bright Horizons, you’ll work cooperatively with a second Cook to plan menus, prepare morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack for approximately 250 children, and order inventory as you make a real difference in the lives of children, families, and staff! This role is scheduled to work Monday through Friday from approximately 7:00am to 4:00pm, and the hourly pay rate starts between $16.00 and $20.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Candidates must pass required state and company background checks, and meet state and company minimum education and experience requirements:
• At least 18 years of age with a high school degree or GED required
• Relevant experience working in a licensed child care center, public school, or commercial kitchen required
• Food service/food handler permit or license according to state/local regulations (or a plan to complete those requirements with support of the center) required
• This position requires the employee to comply with all applicable federal, state, local, Bright Horizons’, and client site requirements concerning immunizations, employment physical/screening, and health and safety training. If hired, you will work in person in an early education/preschool child care center to provide supervision, care, curriculum delivery and services per Bright Horizons’ policies, procedures and guidance, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations, and in a manner that will ensure the safety of children in Bright Horizons care and the employee.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare nutritionally balanced meals for children and staff
• Keep an accurate inventory of supplies and place orders as needed.
• Manage all aspects of prepping and preparing meals, as well as cleaning and complying with sanitation requirements.
