About The Position

Iris Memory Care of Turtle Creek is looking for a Chef/Cook to join our team. The Cook is responsible for preparing three meals per day and snacks, maintaining all areas of the kitchen including dishes, and ensuring overall kitchen compliance and operations are adhered to. Assisted living experience preferred, and Food Handlers training and certificate for cooks required. Must have culinary training and experience in commercial kitchen, catering, or restaurant venue. Good attendance history required. This is a part-time position, and weekend availability will be required. Rate of pay is $17 per hour. Iris Memory Care of Turtle Creek is a small, freestanding memory care assisted living licensed for 45 residents. We are conveniently located off of I35E and the Dallas Tollway at Oaklawn Ave and Dickason Avenue. As a community focused on memory care, all of our residents are coping with Alzheimer's or other form of dementia. We are an age-in-place community, so you will care for residents all throughout the spectrum of the disease. Requirements

  • One to two years’ experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Working knowledge of rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability in food preparation and services.
  • Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred.
  • Meet continuing education requirements and certifications on job classification and position, including state and local requirements

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for Residents.
  • Prepares food items and serves food to Residents within scheduled time frame.
  • Follows menu cycle, noting changes or substitutions made.
  • Cleans and maintains food service areas, including kitchen and dining room.
  • Maintains clean, neat, and safe working environment.
  • Maintains coolers and food storage areas to standard.
  • With consultant dietician, monitors nutritional status of Residents using regular assessments, progress notes, and dietary care planning, if required.
  • Ensures correct procedures in preparation of food and inspects quantity, quality, temperature, and appearance of food prior to serving.
