About The Position
The Cook, Adult Correctional (Cook, A/C) position at Stafford Creek Corrections Center (SCCC) in Aberdeen, WA, is a vital role within the Department of Corrections (DOC) that contributes to the agency's mission of improving public safety. The SCCC is a 1,936-bed multi-custody facility located five miles west of Aberdeen, which houses medium and minimum long-term custody Incarcerated Individuals, as well as an intensive management unit for maximum-custody individuals. The role involves not only cooking but also mentoring and training Incarcerated Individuals in food preparation, cooking, and safety practices, thereby equipping them with essential job skills for their future reintegration into society. The Cook A/C is responsible for overseeing the preparation and service of food, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining safety protocols. This position also requires effective communication and the ability to supervise and instruct Incarcerated Individuals in various cooking techniques and food service practices.
