About the position
The Convolutor Operator Trainee position at STS Aerospace involves the setup and operation of tube convolution testing machines, focusing on external cylindrical and tapered surfaces of rotating metal workpieces. This role is essential for ensuring the quality and compliance of various machine parts through precise measurements and adjustments.
Responsibilities
- Select and install brass seals, nylon dies, forming dies/mandrels, and compression dies/mandrels.
- Load tubing onto forming and compression mandrels.
- Select, operate, and adjust computer-controlled programs through a touch screen interface to remove die and crimp marks.
- Trim hose using a pipe cutter.
- Select sample tooling, section hose samples, and inspect to PS 499 using a shadowgraph and wall thickness gauge.
- Monitor hydraulic forming pressure while the machine is running.
- Measure hose using a micrometer and calipers; then adjust as required for dimensional compliance.
Requirements
- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
