Summary: As a Conventional Machinist, you'll use equipment such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders to shape raw material into finished parts. In this role, you will also be supporting our forming department as needed.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other conventional machining equipment.
  • Strong understanding of technical blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
  • Ability to work with tight tolerances and precision measurement tools, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Specific knowledge of end mills, drills, reamers utilization in the department
  • Familiarity with various metals and materials commonly used in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and practices in a machining environment.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including potential shifts and overtime, as required.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in machining preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in conventional machining, specifically in the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up conventional machining equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders to produce aerospace components.
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
  • Perform precision measurements and inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to ensure parts meet strict tolerances.
  • Adjust machine settings and tooling to optimize production efficiency and part quality.
  • Monitor the machining process to detect and address any issues or deviations from specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to resolve technical issues and improve machining processes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Document all machining operations and parts produced for traceability and quality assurance purposes.
