About The Position

The Controls Technician at GlobalWafers America is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of facility PLC, SCADA, and ancillary systems. This role is crucial in ensuring that all control systems are installed and maintained to meet safety and building codes, contributing to the overall efficiency of a state-of-the-art semiconductor facility in Sherman, TX.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of low voltage (less than 600 AC/DC).
  • Knowledge of testing devices.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to diagnose, repair, and replace or design plant control circuits and equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot low and high voltage controls.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions on day-to-day building operations where judgment and initiative is required.
  • Ability to analyze problems, make recommendations to the Supervisor and implement agreed to solutions.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a confined space certification and willing to enter confined spaces.
  • Must be able to use troubleshooting equipment such as multimeters, pressure gauges, power supplies, signal generators, hi-pot testers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, PIDs, and specifications to map layout for control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex machine systems controlled by PLCs.
  • Follow electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications.
  • Provide adequate services to ensure that all control systems are installed, repaired, and maintained to meet building codes and safety standards.
  • Work in a safe manner in compliance with safety, environmental, and Facilities department policies and procedures.
  • Support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
  • Respond to Facility Work Orders from building occupants.
  • Perform acceptance tests of new equipment.
  • Inspect the installation of equipment and systems for conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Order supplies and prepare maintenance service reports.
  • Use, maintain, and repair electrical test instruments.
  • Perform specialized work related to control systems.
  • Support complex troubleshooting of facilities equipment and associated failures.
  • Partner with other Technicians and Management in identifying training requirements and safety procedures.
  • Partner with Engineers and other Technicians on various facilities projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and assist other specialty areas as required.
  • Be on-call and work off-hours when necessary to maintain efficient operation of facilities.
  • Work from technical manuals, specifications, drawings, schematics, and verbal instruction.
  • Perform maintenance duties including maintaining Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules, PM reports, troubleshooting reports, and re-ordering, maintaining, and organizing equipment spare parts.
  • Update PM documents as necessary.
  • Train personnel on equipment maintenance.
