About The Position

The Controls Service Technician role primarily involves starting up, troubleshooting, and repairing complex controls on HVAC equipment consisting of primarily, but not limited to, Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, dedicated outside air units, hot water boilers, computer room units, water source heat pumps, VAVs, packaged rooftops, and split DX units. A service technician is also expected to meet with end-users monthly as part of service contracts to maintain their system and assist with their needs. This position is based out of Baton Rouge and requires out of state travel, up to 5% of the time.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a Technical / Trade School with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning and two (2) years related experience; or five (5) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e., Smartphone, iPad).
  • Valid Driver's License with no major traffic violations for the previous 5 years.

  • Above average computer skills.
  • Ability to learn and use proprietary software needed to start-up, configure or troubleshoot HVAC equipment.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Start up, troubleshoot, and repair complex controls on HVAC equipment.
  • Meet with end-users monthly as part of service contracts to maintain their system.
  • Document service and installation activities by completing work orders, maintenance checklists, and daily time sheets.
  • Maintain rapport with customers by addressing complaints and identifying solutions.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with established policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Independently manage daily business needs by identifying parts to order for repairs and determining the urgency of the requirement.
  • Keep current on products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of HVAC systems and components.
