About The Position

As a Technical Services Controls Technician, reporting to the Senior Controls Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various control systems used in industrial and commercial environments. These control systems include but are not limited to programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and other related technologies. You will play a crucial role in maximizing operational efficiency and safety within the organization by monitoring and managing these control systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Technology or another related field OR
  • Four or more years of verifiable work experience in the field of Electrical PLC programming and HMI Software Programming and maintenance or a closely related field OR
  • Four years or more of formal education and related relevant work experience combined with verifiable experience with electrical control systems.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers, Specifically Allen-Bradley.
  • Experience with Motion Control Systems.
  • Experience with Drive Controls.
  • Experience with HMI Control Systems, Specifically Allen-Bradley PanelView.
  • Experience with PLC Software and Drive Configuration Software, Specifically Allen-Bradley.
  • Ability to successfully complete specific assignments under considerable time pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide verifiable examples of projects successfully implemented in their career.
  • Ability to work equally well individually or in a team situation.
  • Ability to follow and give high regard to safety rules and housekeeping procedures.
  • Willingness to accept full personal accountability for all assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of safe work practices.
  • Perform electrical and control systems programming to meet safety, housekeeping, quality, cost, and production requirements with minimal supervision.
  • Perform troubleshooting and calibration on electrical control systems.
  • Perform testing on electrical equipment using digital multimeter, megohmmeter, analog source meter, thermocouple source meter, AC/DC amp meter.
  • Assist engineering group with electrical design of new equipment.
  • Formulate a scope of work for repairs/projects and communicate with leadership to schedule downtime.
  • Responsible for safety education of hired contractors, includes PPE and all safety requirements (LOTO, arc flash suit while working on energized equipment, insulated tools, spotters, caution tape/barriers, roof/confined space/hot work permits, etc.)
