Job Title Controls Technician Responsible for selecting, installing, programming, testing, calibrating, operating, troubleshooting, and repair of process control systems along with their related software, hardware, and equipment. As well as, creating electrical or mechanical drawings to support programs within the department.

Requirements

  • Required Education: Associates Degree in automation technology or electrical/controls engineering
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of instrumentation & controls experience (preferably in a manufacturing, automation environment).
  • A minimum of 5 years of working with AutoCAD and Solid works or related software experience in manufacturing
  • Skills: Technically proficient in operating and programming Allen Bradley and or Siemens PLCs and HMI screens
  • Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, ISA, IEC, and NEMA codes.
  • Skill in the use of technicians' tools such as electric meters, oscilloscopes, calibration devices, electronic testers, etc.
  • Utilize electrical schematics and P&IDs to understand process controls
  • Perform detail oriented takes utilizing math skills and have effective communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working in and around industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Must be able to work with a variety of people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • understanding in Control Logix, PLC 5, Factory Talk, Wonderware.
  • In-depth knowledge of Solid Works and Auto Cad. Or related software.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as a subject matter expert in the areas of process controls and computer aided design.
  • Install, program, inspect, troubleshoot, and adjust process control systems, interface with corporate IT on equipment and systems requirements related to programs.
  • Create models and drawings of products, equipment, and building layouts.
  • Assist electrical / automation engineers with developing technical solutions related to the operation and performance of controls devices and systems.
  • Evaluating process improvements, writing equipment specifications, performing equipment supplier evaluations, equipment installation and commissioning, programming, controls, and safety concerns.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
  • Assist in the integration of factory automation equipment and the construction of new specialized machines.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and systems issues related to I/O logic networks (ASi, Profibus PA, IO Link, Ethernet IP).
  • Manage the technical interface with manufacturers and integrators that supply controls/automation equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, laws, or regulations.
  • Responsible for staying connected to the trends in manufacturing automation and controls through industry publications and conferences, transfers knowledge of technology trends.
