The Syntegon Technology Services location in Raleigh, North Carolina, serves as the headquarters of the North American Service Hub, focusing on unique customer requirements. The Controls Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, analyzing, maintaining, repairing, and training on Syntegon packaging equipment and associated products at customer sites, with a primary emphasis on supporting various control platforms. The main focus is to provide excellent technical customer service and ensure complete satisfaction, which significantly impacts maintaining and growing Syntegon Technology Services' customer base.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or have 2+ years of vocational training and 2+ years of direct work experience with at least one Bosch/Syntegon model Wrapper, Robot, or Carton erector/loader/closer.
  • 5+ years in the Packaging industry designing, installing and trouble-shooting PLC motion control software and hardware including experience in repair/maintenance of capital equipment or electronics such as servo drives, HMI’s and programmable controllers.
  • Work in tight quarters; on top of and underneath equipment.
  • Stand, stoop, kneel and bend continuously while working on equipment (66% of the time).
  • Lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • May require occasional 2nd or 3rd shift work based on customer needs.
  • Submit to safety, background and drug/alcohol testing as required by customers and wear personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Travel up to 80% domestically and internationally which requires nearby proximity (within 50 miles) to a major metropolitan airport and may require residence in a specific geographic area to better serve a specific customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field service repairs, training and installations as scheduled by Field Service department.
  • Maintain proficiency in control software (e.g. Allen Bradley, various Syntegon controls platforms) and machinery equipped with PLC’s through vendor training and interaction with engineering personnel.
  • Interact, support and assist the Product, Project and Sales departments with order review, design reviews, assembly, testing and final acceptance tests to become proficient with the control packages interface and integrity.
  • Partner with Sales Managers / Project Managers on customer equipment needs and concerns and / or updates.
  • Provide updates and modifications to machine control software at customer sites and training customers on use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Train customers, internal technical personnel and sales support staff on proper operation, maintenance and safety rules of Syntegon packaging equipment, specifically on electronic controls and robotics.
