About The Position

SCS Engineers is looking for a Controls Technician who will be working under the direction of an SCS RMC (Remote Monitoring Control) Controls Specialist, Project Manager, Regional Manager, or Business Manager to implement technology solutions for clients. RMC is a growing division for SCS, and this is an exciting time to join this team! This position can be hybrid or remote, but we prefer you to be based in CA or surrounding states. This position will involve 50% travel.

Requirements

  • Experience in controls systems preferred.
  • Experience reading mechanical and electrical drawings required.
  • Related experience, including working on landfills preferred.
  • Must meet physical requirements for driving, walking inspection of properties, lifting and carrying equipment (up to 25 lbs. unassisted), climbing ladders, and operating electric and hand tools.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using a laser system for shaft alignment.
  • HDPE welding experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook skills.

Responsibilities

  • Implement technology solutions for clients, often in the field (typically landfill environment).
  • Provide thorough documentation of work.
  • Coordinate field conditions with work.
  • Complete field activities, often working independently.
  • Installation and startup work including Cabinet Installation, Conduit and wiring installation, Radio system Installation, PLC, HMI, and radio programming, System startup and commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot field components such as Flares, Compressors, Pump Systems.
  • Install, commission, and troubleshoot control panels, sensors, conduit, and wiring in the field.
  • Perform electrical installations in compliance with NEC code.
  • Conduct mechanical installations according to OEM specs.
  • Utilize SCADA systems and industrial automation communication protocols.
  • Engage in Python programming and database scripting.
