The Controls Systems Technician role at Johnson Controls involves advanced system commissioning and troubleshooting of HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control systems. The position is integral to ensuring the performance and reliability of building automation systems, contributing to the company's mission of creating smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings. Technicians will work in a collaborative environment, supported by extensive training and resources, while adhering to safety standards and protocols.

  • Performs assigned advanced system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control problems.
  • Responds to basic warranty calls.
  • Loads system-level controller software.
  • Performs advanced commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.) and completes all required commissioning documentation.
  • Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
  • Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
  • Completes administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
  • Documents change and provides information for as-built documentation.
  • Communicates with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
  • Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training.
  • Communicates and organizes technical teams to perform assigned tasks.
  • 2 years' experience in HVAC, Building Automation Systems, or related field.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude.
  • Able to use hand and power tools (i.e., drills, saws, etc.).
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and listening skills.
  • 2 years of experience commissioning electronic and/or mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems.
  • Proficient with test equipment and software tools related to commissioning of controls systems.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuitry as they pertain to HVAC controls and their operation.
  • Experience in BACnet, Metasys, IP networks.
