About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Controls Systems Engineer to join our team at a leading commercial HVAC manufacturers representative firm. This role is responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning building automation and HVAC control systems for commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, control theory, and integration with building management systems (BMS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC controls or building automation systems.
  • Proficiency with control platforms such as Trane, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, and similar.
  • Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, and other communication protocols.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems including air handlers, chillers, boilers, and VAV systems.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with energy management and optimization strategies is preferred.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for controls systems is preferred.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., LEED, PMP, or manufacturer-specific training) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop control system architecture and sequence of operations for HVAC systems.
  • Select appropriate control hardware and software platforms based on project requirements.
  • Create wiring diagrams, control schematics, and layout drawings.
  • Program controllers (DDC, PLC, etc.) and configure BMS interfaces.
  • Develop graphical user interfaces and dashboards for system monitoring.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and clients to ensure successful project execution.
  • Perform system startup, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
  • Provide technical support during installation and post-commissioning phases.
  • Prepare detailed documentation including submittals, O&M manuals, and as-built drawings.
  • Train end-users and facility staff on system operation and maintenance.
