This position is for a Controls Systems Engineer on the Johnson Controls Central Engineering Support Team. You will be assigned various project tasks, such as Submittal design, controller programming, graphics and database work, to supplement the resource needs of the local JCI branches. Mentoring and Quality Control processes are a big part of this position. There may be times when it is necessary to go to a project site and troubleshoot programs, work with commissioning agents, and help with integrations. This position is remote; however, some travel may be required, but no more than 10%.

  • Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents.
  • Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.
  • Coordinate and create necessary drawings for submittal approval and installation.
  • Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per the intent of the project requirements.
  • Mentor local branch System Designers and Engineers to strengthen their skill levels.
  • Follow established QA/QC processes to ensure the quality of the Hardware and Software Design meets the contract document requirements.
  • Participate in project turnover meetings to verify the requirements of the task and communicate task progress and issues with the project team.
  • Adhere to safety standards with a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 4-years' experience in the HVAC controls construction industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Building Automation construction industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems.
  • Demonstrated experience in the integration of low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols (i.e. LON, BacNet, etc).
  • Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills required, particularly computer-related drafting tools.
