About The Position

The Controls Systems Engineer will support automation initiatives within operations in Bloomington/Shakopee, focusing on designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing system infrastructures. This role is crucial for enhancing production and business systems such as ERP, SCADA, CRM, MES, and WMS, delivering technical solutions that promote system connectivity, automation, data analytics, and overall business operations optimization. The position offers an opportunity to take ownership of complex systems and lead technical initiatives that contribute directly to the success of business operations and production.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree or associate's degree in engineering or related field (computer science, robotics/electronics, IT technology, machining) or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, Python, and scripting languages for system integration, database management, and automation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Allen Bradley PLC programming (Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and SCADA system design using Ignition software.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (VLAN, Ethernet/IP) and their use in transmitting data between systems and equipment.
  • Expertise in integrating diverse systems (ERP, MES, SCADA, internal applications) and troubleshooting system and communication failures.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Manufacturing, Regulatory Compliance & LEAN experience, particularly in medical device manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in a manufacturing environment, particularly for medical devices.
  • Experience with configuring Ignition modules and devices for seamless integration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop system architecture that integrates multiple production and business systems.
  • Collaborate with global system owners, corporate IT teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Program and script using SQL and Python to develop software solutions and manage databases.
  • Manage and troubleshoot network infrastructure, database systems, and web servers.
  • Develop non-product software and internal tools for business operations.
  • Design, configure, and maintain SCADA systems using Ignition software.
  • Design and program Allen Bradley PLCs using ladder logic and structured text.
  • Create and modify Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens for operator interaction.
