About The Position

The primary purpose of the Controls System Specialist position is to field verify the desired operation of the systems we design. This design should incorporate the desires of our end Customers, Consulting Engineers, and our own Engineers, Programmers, and Graphic Artists. Through a series of end-of-process system checks, you will ensure the total package we deliver meets the design intent for installation, sequence of operations, specifications, and customer system interaction. Any knowledge of HVAC systems and low voltage controls is required. The secondary purpose for this position is for you to gain the hands on working knowledge of multiple system deployments that are designed, built and project managed by others. Once you have acquired the knowledge you will provide support and training for customer’s unified systems. This field knowledge will assist you in understanding our projects and the needs of customers when you are dispatched to service calls whether via remote access or on-site. This training and your previous experience will also be invaluable when you are in the on-call rotation or working at the support desk.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five (5) years work experience in industrial/commercial HVAC building automation controls programming and troubleshooting required.
  • Position requires a previous history and proven desire to understand, troubleshoot, and work hands-on with various pieces of equipment, electronics, PC hardware, software, databases, processes, networks, and smart integrated devices.
  • Must be skilled in verbal and written communication and able to work effectively with the public.
  • Knowledge of Windows, software installation, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, General programming language, various interface software and programming tools.
  • Clean drug test at time of hire required.
  • Live scan for background check as required by contract.
  • Clean DMV record and proof of personal auto liability insurance.
  • Must be able to travel to various job sites, meet jobsite clearance requirements, and traverse locations to obtain necessary data as required per contract with the customer.

Nice To Haves

  • Networking and/or Controls Programming college courses or technical school, a plus.
  • A working knowledge of Alerton controls, BlueRidge Lighting controls, Distech controls, and/or Niagara controls is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Make corrections to errors found in our total design process and communicate and document your findings.
  • Work with installation electricians to make corrections to identified field problems.
  • Bring the total unified systems on-line and ensure operation.
  • Provide support and training for customer’s unified systems.
  • Service calls whether via remote access or on-site.
  • On-call rotation or working at the support desk.
