The Installation Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the field installation of building automation and HVAC controls systems on new construction and retrofit projects. This role manages Controls Technicians to ensure installations are completed safely and in acco rdance with drawings, specifications, and company standards. The Installation Manager partners closely with Project Managers to drive successful project execution from inception through installation completion and turnover. What You'll Do: Team Leadership (60%) Lead, train, and develop Controls Technicians focused on system installation, wiring, device mounting, and panel buildout. Establish and enforce installation standards, best practices, safety protocols, and quality expectations across all projects. Plan, schedule, and coordinate technician labor to meet project milestones and construction schedules. Review installation progress and validate that work aligns with drawings, scope of work, and company standards. Collaborate with Project Managers to address labor needs, material readiness, sequencing, and field constraints. Support coordination with electrical and mechanical contractors to ensure proper installation sequencing. Identify performance issues and partner with leadership on corrective actions when needed. Participate in hiring, onboarding, annual goal setting, and performance reviews for installation staff. Field Operations (40%) Oversee and, as needed, support hands-on installation of HVAC controls systems, including device placement, panel installation, conduit, and wiring. Perform and/or support wiring checkout prior to startup and commissioning handoff. Work with Project Managers to prepare for installations by reviewing drawings, site conditions, materials, and construction schedules. Anticipate field challenges and proactively resolve installation conflicts or constructability issues. Track job progress and communicate status, risks, and delays to the Project Manager and stakeholders. Ensure installation documentation, redlines, daily reports, time tracking, and closeout materials are completed accurately and on time. Support turnover of completed installations to commissioning and service teams. Perform other duties as assigned.
