About this role Carrier Commercial Service has an opening for an experienced Controls Field Engineer for our Plymouth Meeting, PA location. The Controls Field Engineer is responsible for the successful overall software design of projects, database creation, as well the implementation of the controls design and standards used in the programming, commissioning, and documentation of controls projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in Building Automation and HVAC
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade and capable of lifting items up to 30lbs.
  • Valid and current Driver’s License and can be insurable by the company’s insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Highly qualified controls technicians preferred.
  • Working knowledge with BAS systems, Carrier i-Vu knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of computers and setup procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer networking systems.
  • Working experience with Carrier i-Vu, Tridium or BACnet systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge in DDC control theory and applications pertaining to the HVAC/Control.
  • Prior experience in HVAC and/or Building Automation.
  • Ability to create DDC programs.

Responsibilities

  • Job requires fieldwork with controllers and associated components.
  • Complete each assigned project focusing on customer satisfaction and specification compliance while maintaining budgetary guidelines.
  • Partner with sales function to set parameters for equipment needs and project timeline.
  • Create submittals, read and understand project specifications and MEP drawing sets, controls and shop drawings.
  • Document and track project completion with as-builts and final program notation with all field changes.
  • Assemble Operation & Maintenance Manuals for completed projects.
  • Utilize company and as required customer standard programs for designing graphic function blocks for assigned projects.
  • Test project programs to ensure specified sequences of operation are met and performed according to industry standards.
  • Inspect HVAC system including point-to-point, determining the proper operating ranges for field devices, as well as complete functional system checkouts.
  • Conduct graphics engineering functions which include creating equipment and floor plan graphics per project documents.
  • Submit material orders for project-required materials to the purchasing group.
  • Assist in the development of functional checkpoints lists for commissioning and additional documentation requirements to commission the system or work with the Commissioning Agent.
