About The Position

This position is for a Controls Field Technician in Aftermarket and Service who is under minimal supervision and works more independently. Conducts and/or oversees equipment inspection and repair activities on a regular basis to ensure proper functioning. Responsible for on-site preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration after installation. Solves highly complex problems and serves as a resource on varied tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in Building Automation, HVAC, or technical field
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs
  • Valid and current Driver's License and can be insurable by the company's insurance

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree, Associate degree, Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma in HVAC, Controls, or related field
  • Knowledge of computers, setup procedures, and networking systems
  • Previous experience in AutoCAD and Bluebeam
  • Working experience with Carrier i-Vu, Tridium or BACnet systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge in DDC control theory and applications pertaining to the HVAC/Control
  • Prior experience in HVAC and/or Building Automation
  • Expert with TCP/IP networks including wireless technology
  • Experience interacting with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Job requires fieldwork with controllers and associated components
  • Complete each assigned project focusing on customer satisfaction and specification compliance while maintaining budgetary guidelines
  • Partner with sales function to set parameters for equipment needs and project timeline
  • Create submittals, read and understand project specifications and MEP drawing sets, controls and shop drawings
  • Document and track project completion with as-builts and final program notation with all field changes
  • Assemble Operation & Maintenance Manuals for completed projects
  • Utilize company and as required customer standard programs for designing graphic function blocks for assigned projects
  • Test project programs to ensure specified sequences of operation are met and performed accordingly to industry standards
  • Inspect HVAC system including point-to-point, determining the proper operating ranges for field devices, as well as complete functional system checkouts
  • Conduct graphics engineering functions which include creating equipment and floor plan graphics per project documents
  • Submit material orders for project-required materials to the purchasing group
  • Assist in the development of functional checkpoints lists for commissioning and additional documentation requirements to commission the system or work with the Commissioning Agent
