About The Position

The Controls Engineering Intern will shadow the Controls Engineering team to help support manufacturing operations, learn controls design, troubleshooting skills and techniques, basic programming skills, and help create training documents. They will participate in daily shop floor walks to learn the equipment layout and monitor assembly machine function. They will have the opportunity to work with Assembly Technicians/Controls Engineering Technicians to troubleshoot and repair assembly equipment. They will also have the opportunity to bench test inspection equipment to learn how it functions and see how it applies to the manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma pursuing and pursuing an Engineering or Trade School related degree
  • Majoring in one of the following (or equivalent):
  • Engineering (Electrical, Controls, or Automation) with a strong mechanical background
  • Associate’s degree in Electronics/Industrial Electronics and a completed apprenticeship program in a related field
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
  • A team-based, creative, and analytical approach to problem solving

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with database applications, such at SQL Database a plus
  • Pneumatics or Hydraulics experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Shadow the Controls Engineering Team
  • Assist in creation of training documents
  • Contribute to continuous improvement solutions
  • Experience and learn robotics (Fanuc, Denso, Epson)
  • Learn basic PLC/HMI programming under direct supervision (AB Rockwell, GE/Emerson)
  • Wire basic electronic components including sensors, vision, barcode scanners, etc.
  • Bench test vision systems (Keyence, Cognex)
  • Analyze plant processes and review for scrap reduction and better machine efficiency
