About The Position

This role is within the Hanley US specific Region providing project support to the Controls and Commissioning Manager. The ideal candidate will provide technical accountability and leadership within the automation and electrical engineering staff through the collaborative development of concepts and designs, review of electrical designs and engineering documentation, problem resolution, and troubleshooting of new and existing systems. The successful applicant will have a strong track record of innovation, delivering effective, novel design solutions. You will operate as part of a multifunctional global team where your ideas and innovative spark can have great impact. You will liaise daily with Developers and Engineers building your full product life cycle experience and having your opinion heard throughout all stages of development. As a Controls Engineer you will be given substantial freedom within the role to develop solutions. This role requires an individual who has a “think differently to solve problems” attitude. This is a permanent position with progression opportunities at both local and international level.

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree and a minimum of 4 - 6 years’ experience
  • Work within a team environment, as well as independently.
  • Be a self-starter to execute a variety of project functions efficiently and professionally.
  • Support the Controls Team
  • Knowledge of power distribution, control systems and automation.
  • Basic understanding of Electrical theory and control circuits
  • Proven track record in PLC & SCADA application development
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions to address complex technical problems.
  • Industrial & building Automation experience desirable.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication networks and protocols
  • Ability to interact with customers on technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of construction safety and protocols (highly desirable)
  • Ability to design robust automation solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with fluent English
  • Demonstrating compliance to International Standards and Client Specifications
  • Experience Extensive knowledge of Electrical Power Systems
  • Previous experience working in a regulated industry.
  • Experience with IEC 61131-3 programming languages (highly desirable)
  • Experience in SCADA application(s) development (highly desirable)
  • Experience in scripting of Java, Python, and/or HTML (highly desirable)
  • PC Hardware and Ethernet Networks including industrial gateways and managed switches.
  • Experience with Ignition Software (highly desirable)
  • Systems Integration Experience
  • Test Specification Development Software, Factory and Site Acceptance Testing

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RSLogix 500/5000, FTView SE & Ignition SCADA (highly desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Designing/programming PLC/HMI systems
  • Designing/developing SCADA systems
  • Testing automation systems and control panels
  • Developing project documentation such as URS, FDS and O & M Manuals
  • Providing technical support to internal resources & customers
  • Managing internal automation resources
  • Attend client commissioning and coordination meetings at various locations.
  • Produce documentation in accordance with company/customer procedures.
  • Provide technical support to the client and third-party commissioning agents.
  • Comply with Company Standards of Conduct and all relevant statutory requirements.
  • Travel to customer sites as required.
