Controls Engineer (full-time; single position) ANDRITZ Schuler Incorporated seeks in Canton, MI to develop, design, integrate, start-up, test and maintain ANDRITZ Schuler industrial press automation software and control systems. Design solutions that meet all applicable functional requirements and standards, outline the project, write transparent code that is usable, modular, and maintainable. Perform software modifications for equipment and system upgrades, including new electrical hardware, motion control PCs, PLCs, HMis and integrated safety systems. Develep and maintain PC & PLC based equipment, and HMI software. The main focus of this position is on the development and maintenance of the Realtime application based on BeckhoffTwinCAT. Provide service and support to the field service group in preparation of installations and software updates. Provide troubleshooting to service technicians and customers. Act as project manager on specific jobs, prepare and facilitate technical trainings, interface with customer and support new machines sales with technical information as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, plus three (3) years of experience designing control systems for industrial equipment.
  • The three years must include work experience with the following: developing system automation and work with BeckhoffTwinCat, Logix, Siemens S7, WinCC, and SAP.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent), we will accept a Bachelor's Degree earned through any suitable combination of education, training, and/or experience, as determined by a professional evaluation service.
  • National and International Travel required as needed to fulfill contractual needs for ANDRITZ Schuler's customers, not to exceed 25%.
