We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Controls Engineer to join our growing team in Humble, TX. This role is ideal for someone with experience in water/wastewater industries, a strong foundation in electrical design, automation, and project management, who thrives in a fast-paced environment with complex engineering challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years experience in controls design, PLC programming, and industrial automation
  • Hands-on experience with SCADA /HMI platforms; Wonderware, Ignition, or FactoryTalk
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP
  • Required proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical to create and modify electrical schematics for control panel design and system layouts
  • Excellent communication & collaboration skills; clearly conveying technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • This position requires direct employment.
  • We do not consider C2C (Corp-to-Corp) or 1099 contract arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of PLC, HMI, and VTScada programming, including system design, testing, debugging, and optimization using platforms such as Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, and Schneider Electric.
  • Develop, configure, and maintain SCADA and HMI applications on platforms including Wonderware, Ignition, and FactoryTalk to support reliable automated operations.
  • Integrate and support industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP to ensure stable and efficient system connectivity.
  • Create, update, and manage electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and control panel designs using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Support and maintain process control systems, working hands‑on with sensors, actuators, and control loops to ensure accurate, dependable performance in manufacturing environments.
  • Develop accurate Bills of Materials and I/O lists to drive system reliability and support successful project execution.
  • Manage automation projects from start to finish, owning scope, schedule, and budget while partnering directly with customers to align expectations and resolve technical concerns.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, operations, clients, and subcontractors to support project milestones, and deliver high‑quality automation solutions across multiple industries.
  • Champion safety, quality, and regulatory compliance by adhering to industry standards, electrical codes, and internal procedures.
