We are seeking a highly skilled Automation & Controls Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and reliability of automated material handling systems and warehouse control technologies at our state-of-the-art distribution centers in the division. This is a new and impactful role, ideal for a technically driven professional with a passion for automation, continuous improvement, and cross-functional leadership. Location: This is an onsite position located at our distribution center in Albert Lea, MN. Relocation assistance may be provided for well qualified candidates.

  • Lead engineering projects focused on automation, controls integration, and process optimization.
  • Oversee maintenance operations, including equipment installation, repair, and preventative maintenance planning.
  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement initiatives across facility systems and processes.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for automation technologies, collaborating with project teams and operations leadership.
  • Provide 24/7 support for diagnosing and resolving complex automation and controls issues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, system specifications, and validation protocols.
  • Support startup and commissioning of new systems, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and operational goals.
  • Manage facility performance metrics, labor budgets, and cost-efficiency initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and innovation within the engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
  • 3+ years of experience in Engineering, Maintenance, or Operations within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Proven leadership in managing engineering and maintenance teams, setting KPIs, and driving performance.
  • Strong expertise in automation and controls systems, including: Allen Bradley, FactoryTalk, Logix 5000, RSLinx, Rockwell Software.
  • PLC and HMI programming/troubleshooting.
  • AB PowerFlex Series drives.
  • Intelligrated software development and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Project management experience from concept through implementation.
