We are looking for a talented Controls Engineer - Senior to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Cummins' business in Whitakers, NC. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: Innovative Control Systems: By developing and designing advanced control systems, you'll enhance operational efficiency and reliability. Precision Testing: Implementing bench tests ensures that all systems meet stringent specifications, contributing to high-quality performance. Optimized Functionality: Altering software and equipment to ensure sensors and actuators function correctly will maintain system integrity and responsiveness. Problem-Solving Expertise: Supporting and debugging complex issues and change requests will keep operations running smoothly and minimize downtime. Cost Management: Preparing accurate cost estimates and compiling necessary information will help in budgeting and resource allocation, ensuring projects stay within financial constraints. Strategic Planning: Investigating project requirements and developing solutions that consider economic, personnel, and environmental factors will lead to sustainable and efficient outcomes. Technical Support: Providing installation and technical support for PLC-based hardware and software will ensure seamless integration and operation of control systems. Mentorship: Coaching and mentoring less experienced Controls Engineers will foster a collaborative and knowledgeable team, driving continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Strong Collaboration Skills: Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives will be crucial.
  • Effective Communication: Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Health and Safety Awareness: Championing proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting, and participating in actions to improve health and safety.
  • Controls Engineering Expertise: Applying controls hardware and software knowledge by specifying, reviewing, and approving designs for new or upgraded equipment.
  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
  • Basic level of relevant work experience in controls engineering, or automation.
  • Familiarity with PLC hardware/software and troubleshooting techniques, specifically Allen-Bradley and Siemens controls.
  • Understanding of manufacturing environments and automation systems.
  • Exposure to factory automation and control systems.
  • Experience in sensor technology and data measurement techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of controls system security and safety standards in industrial settings.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of robots, specifically Fanuc robot programming.
