About The Position

This exposure is granted through individual projects, hands-on tasks on the plant floor, and much more. Challenge Mfg. Company prides itself on giving students a head start on experience in the Automotive Industry to enhance their future. We are currently looking for a Controls Engineer Intern to join our team!

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a four-year Bachelor’s degree related to Manufacturing Engineering from a accredited college or university
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to be considered for the Internship program
  • Must have superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in global manufacturing environment
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and eliminate AGV tag-skipping issues by: Evaluating consistency of RFID reader mounting locations Correlating mounting conditions to skip frequency Identifying best-performing configurations Developing and implementing corrective scripting within Ignition
  • Improve error messaging systems by: Verifying that fault messages are correctly linked to the part present Ensuring accurate traceability and operator clarity
  • Review and optimize sequencer logic by: Identifying redundant or inefficient steps Condensing logic where appropriate Maintaining cycle time and quality integrity
  • Validate and enhance reject station logic by: Reviewing station logic in areas with reject functionality Developing additional logic to allow re-insertion of repaired parts Supporting phased implementation beginning with FP, Big Dash, LHBS, and RHBS stations
  • Collaborate with controls, manufacturing, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure stable and efficient automation performance.
