About The Position

The Controls Engineering Intern will support the design, development, testing, and implementation of automation and control systems used in manufacturing operations. This role assists engineers with programming, development, design, troubleshooting, and process improvement projects. The ideal candidate is a motivated engineering student with a strong interest in automation and industrial control systems.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of control systems including PLCs, robots, visions systems, sensors, and electrical schematic design.
  • Lean manufacturing concepts and methods to continuously improve the manufacturing process.
  • Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, servo and mechanical equipment.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints.
  • Ability to understand and apply Geometric Tolerances.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • A take-charge team player with the ability to foster enthusiasm within the organization.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or equivalent productivity tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Software, CAD or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing techniques is helpful.
  • Experience and/or knowledge working in or around machine shops or machining.
  • Prior internship, co‑op, or hands‑on project experience (academic or extracurricular) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls
  • Support testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of automation systems and production equipment.
  • Participate in improvement projects regarding Automated Systems by identifying and resolving problems through the use of PLCs, HMI’s, etc.
  • Monitors and continually improve safety, quality, process and productivity within assigned areas.
  • Additional Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities as necessary to support operations.
