About The Position

The Controls Engineer Intern will assist in projects aimed at improving plant safety, efficiency, and reliability. This role is designed for first or second-year university students to gain hands-on experience in automation and control systems under the supervision of experienced engineers.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a first or second year of a university program in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
Basic understanding of electrical circuits and control systems from coursework.
Interest in automation and willingness to learn new technologies.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to follow instructions and maintain attention to detail.
This is an active role with a substantial amount of time spent on the shop floor, in an environment with no heating or air conditioning, requiring walking and standing at and around machinery.

Responsibilities

Assist in documenting plant requirements for Controls and Automation systems.
Support engineers in troubleshooting and maintaining control systems.
Help prepare basic electrical drawings and documentation.
Observe and learn PLC and HMI programming concepts.
Participate in team meetings and collaborate with operations and maintenance staff.
Perform simple data collection and analysis tasks as directed.
Ensure compliance with safety standards while performing tasks under supervision.
