The Controls Engineer II, a Forward Deployed Engineer, will be mentored to become responsible for unit control integration for Trane Air-cooled Data Center Chillers. This role involves interpreting customer design requirements for main unit control panels and auxiliary panel designs, integrating low voltage sensors, wired interconnection devices, and Trane developed HVAC control electronics. Responsibilities also include configuring and qualifying electrical and electro-mechanical power components and control wiring, overseeing control wiring designs and control panel prototypes into production, and creating customer and engineering documentation. The position requires testing and diagnostics for customer testing in the factory. The selected candidate must possess the technical expertise to develop and lead product design projects, supervise product validation testing, drive root cause analysis for quality and reliability issues, interpret technical agency standards, and conduct projects in accordance with standard engineering practices. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Software, Computer or Electrical Engineering and at least 3-years of relevant work experience is required
  • Able to travel overnight 5% of the time
  • Must have the technical expertise to develop and lead product design projects, supervise product validation testing, drive to root cause for quality and reliability issues, interpret technical agency standards, and conduct projects in accordance with standard engineering practices

Responsibilities

  • Work with product management and application engineering to understand product requirements
  • Develop control strategies to meet or exceed product requirements
  • Utilize effective communication techniques to help customers and team members implement the design strategy
  • Lead dynamic controls testing, test planning, run test support, and data analysis
  • Integrate new electrical hardware into product to support data center control strategies
