As a Controls Engineer here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for various projects. You will utilize your expertise in controls engineering to ensure the efficient and effective operation of systems and equipment. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Golden Valley, MN location. In this role, you will impact the success of our projects by designing and implementing control strategies, conducting system testing and troubleshooting, and providing technical support to internal and external stakeholders. Your contributions will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our control systems.

  • Maintenance and development of industrial control solutions that interact with industrial sensors, unique scientific instruments, and other complex electromechanical systems.
  • Using PLC development environments with IEC 61131-3 programming languages (ST, LD, FB, SFC).
  • Configuring Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to communicate with PLCs and other industrial devices.
  • Building Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) for human machine interface (HMI) to allow operators to monitor and control laboratory and industrial machines.
  • Drafting electrical schematics and control panel drawings.
  • Testing and troubleshooting low voltage industrial control panels, electrical equipment, sensors, valves, motors, & drives.
  • 4-5 years related industry experience.
  • US Citizenship to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree & 0-1 yrs industry experience.
  • Knowledge of IEC 61131-3 programming languages; including ladder logic, structured text, function block diagram, and sequential function chart.
  • Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting using standard electrical test equipment.
  • Knowledge of industrial communications networks; including Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, and RS-232/485.
  • Basic mechanical understanding/aptitude, comfortable using simple hand tools.
