As a Controls Engineer – Data Center, you will lead the development and deployment of cutting-edge automation systems, focusing on SCADA and control systems for mission-critical data center environments.

Requirements

  • A proven track record in control systems engineering, with a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in system integration work in mission-critical data center environments.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing PLC, DDC, SCADA, and other related control systems in the context of BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial control panel design (UL508A), instrumentation and controls, and engineering documentation such as P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and SOO development.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Willingness to travel for project needs, training, and industry events.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Developing automation solutions, including design specifications, software configuration, testing, startup and commissioning of data center EPMS and BMS facility support systems.
  • Designing automation control systems, creating technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with client and industry standards.
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex automation problems.
  • Programming PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Rockwell), DDCs (e.g., Distech, Niagara) and SCADA systems (e.g., Ignition, FactoryTalk).
  • Managing project deliverables, timelines, and budgets while coordinating with clients, vendors, and team members.
  • Supporting system start-ups, site installations, and integration activities.
  • Design and develop moderately complex electrical engineering and functional controls system architecture and specifications with input from sales personnel, customers, service technicians, assembly technicians.
  • Apply ingenuity in programming, hardware/software integration and system diagnostics to support machine-based control systems
  • Prepare schematics, assemblies, detailed drawings and bills of material for moderately complex projects.
  • Develop, prepare and maintain program documentation in areas related to diagnostics, information systems, data collection and communication with other peripheral equipment.
  • Research and learn latest developments concerning system architectures that could be implemented as parts of machine control systems.
  • Furnish documentation to product assembly and assist with check-out, machine installation and startup of moderately complex mechanical functionality and control system software
  • Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions; participate on team to analyze control system malfunctions; make recommendations that will improve efficiency or quality of operations
  • May participate in set-up and commissioning of new facilities or upgrading of existing facilities
  • May provide guidance in the production of system operation manuals and diagnostic aids for customer and service technician use.
  • May travel to customer sites to support tests, commissioning or startup of industrial equipment
