About The Position

General Kinematics is the premier manufacturer of vibrating equipment for the processing of bulk materials. From vibratory feeders to entire process systems, General Kinematics creates the solutions customers require to process even the most difficult materials. We are currently looking for a qualified Controls/Electrical Engineer-II to join our team and apply control system design knowledge, skills and ability to create drawings and programing for HMI & PLC for projects and provide continuous professional support throughout the entire manufacturing and commissioning process. Communication with customers and functional organizations within the company is an important part of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical and computer engineering or equivalent is required.
  • 5 years of experience programming PLCs and HMIs. Siemens is a plus.
  • Experience in selecting and configuring ABB and Allen Bradley VFDs.
  • Ability to create and modify AutoCAD electrical drawings for industrial controls.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency to read, design and troubleshoot electrical schematic diagrams.
  • Experience using, programming and troubleshooting common industrial sensors and controls, multimeter/amp/oscilloscope.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide controls engineering support through concept, design, and implementation phases to actuate and control new and innovative product features and concepts.
  • Work across multiple teams (sales, design, production, field service support, suppliers and end customers) throughout lifecycle of project and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Implements applications and automation which extends and enhances the capabilities of our process application.
  • Performs software modifications to existing/new process system with PLCs and HMIs.
  • Understands and troubleshoots PLC, HMI for process and utilities.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of designing control panels as per UL standards.
  • Should possess hands on experience with instrumentation selection for the process applications.
  • Should have comprehensive understanding of various controls network and communication protocols.
  • Fully support the Company’s ISO objectives, policies and procedures. Comply with the company safety procedures.
  • Supports control driven components associated with pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, communication networks, HMI screens, PLC’s, control panels, pushbuttons and robotic integration.
  • Provides timely and detailed status updates. Document the basis of design and details of design for every project.
  • Manage quality through every step of project from material and execution point of view.
  • Assists in troubleshooting, installation, and design of capital projects and/or installed systems.
  • Facilitate and be a part of mentoring culture and environment not only on technical front but also on safety side.
  • Create and maintain new as well as existing controls standards to improve efficiency.
  • Stay abreast with current and future controls technologies and architecture.
  • Lead by example to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Accompany sales personnel to conduct field measuring and/or attend customer meetings.
