About The Position

Westerman, Inc., an employee-owned company, is a multiple site manufacturer of production and storage equipment within the oil, gas, and nuclear industries. Our equipment helps optimize well pad design, improve separation efficiency and lower overall equipment spend through high-performance surface separation and processing technology. Our equipment is setting new standards for performance and economics nationwide. SUMMARY Westerman is looking for a full-time Controls Drafter responsible for initiating and developing project electrical drawing packages for oil and gas processing and production equipment from conception through project completion based on customer specifications and purchase order requirements. All designs will be accomplished in 3D CAD. All mechanical fabrication drawings are direct extracts from the 3D model with minimal 2D manipulation of the finished drawings. The core responsibilities of this position are for P&ID drafting, 3D model completion, General Arrangement drawing completion, and completion 2D mechanical fabrication drawings.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree – Mechanical or Electrical discipline or equivalent training/experience
  • Experience in I&E design
  • Minimum 2 years of electrical design experience
  • Basic knowledge and application of instrument and electrical standards.
  • Ability to create accurate I&E drawings in a timely manner.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical , Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam, and Outlook. Other Autodesk 3D software a plus.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic knowledge of DCS and PLC systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a schedule driven manufacturing environment with multiple, simultaneous deadlines

  • Ability to quickly and accurately analyze data, form accurate conclusion and establish corrective action
  • Ability to read and comprehend ASME pressure vessel code calculation reports
  • Experience in working with parametric relationships between intelligent electrical and controls schematics, layouts, and diagrams and 3D CAD models

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects for complete design of instrument and electrical projects.
  • Reading and communicating scope of work, client specifications, vendor documentation for equipment and design criteria upon assignment of project.
  • Draft instrument drawings and electrical drawings under minimal supervision.
  • Reviewing designs/drawings and supporting other engineering / design disciplines.
  • Must be able to engage directly with other engineers, designers, and clients to resolve technical concerns.
  • Conduct model reviews for the I&E portion with clients.
  • Create a bill of materials.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Assisting with estimates.
