Are You the Engineer Who Turns Complex Packaging Lines into Predictable Performers? If optimizing Rockwell ControlLogix code, commissioning high-speed equipment, and translating problems into tested, documented solutions is your craft, this role is for you. You will service and start up packaging machines in the Consumer industry and collaborate with our German headquarters on upgrades and rebuilds to existing assets. What Success Looks Like You swiftly edit and refine existing PLC programs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix), then lock in gains by adjusting and testing key parameters. You connect machine behavior to control logic, performing rigorous problem analysis on complex production equipment. You practice the SDLC documentation canon—writing change controls and test protocols that stand up to validation scrutiny. You leave a paper trail: troubleshooting steps captured, updated software archived, and lessons shared. You deploy Lean Six Sigma techniques—Root Cause Analysis, DMAIC, GEMBA, 5S, 5 Whys—to drive durable improvements. You communicate clearly with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues to demystify machine states, code paths, and software processes. Your Toolkit Expertise with Allen-Bradley platforms and RSLogix 5000; Jetter controls exposure is beneficial. SCADA experience is preferred: FactoryTalk View SE, WonderWare, or Ignition. VMware and HMI experience are pluses. Solid grounding in industrial hardware: photoelectric sensors, proximity switches, solenoid valves, VFDs, servo drives, PLC I/O. Electrical fluency: read IEC electrical diagrams; apply accepted practices, techniques, and codes. Experience That Helps You Thrive 3–5 years working with high-speed machinery or similar automated systems. PLC programming and motion commissioning of new equipment; experienced in both remote and field support. Ability to program projects from a process description or from the ground up. Comfort with electrical control diagrams and P&ID schematics. Knowledge spanning PLC/AC Drives/HMI/Servo/Motion Control (required). BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Programming, or related field preferred. SAP experience ideal. How You Work Clear, concise communicator—written, verbal, and interpersonal. Decisive and organized; capable of independently coordinating small to large projects. Effective partnering with seasoned, multidisciplinary technical teams. Confident downloading PLC, HMI, and drive programs and collaborating with other controls engineers to elevate machine logic. Role Details Supervisory Responsibility: None. Work Environment: Customer production facilities; follow all site safety measures; operate both independently and within a team. Physical Demands: Active hands-on role; may lift up to 50 lbs. Position Type / Hours: Full-time, hourly. Be available when service is needed and for continued training; maintain flexibility to support customer needs. Travel: Approximately 50–75% annually.
