About The Position

The Plant Controller is the primary financial steward and strategic partner for our manufacturing operations. This role oversees all cost accounting, production analysis, and internal controls to drive operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will partner with plant leadership to translate manufacturing data into actionable business strategies that protect company assets and optimize profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, practices, and standards.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and accounting and reporting applications, along with advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make sound financial and operational recommendations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adhere to tight deadlines
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, namely Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

  • CMA is a plus.
  • Experience with EPM systems such as Anaplan, Planful, or Prophix a plus.
  • Experience working in Lean and Six Sigma manufacturing environments a plus
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
  • Working knowledge of EPM applications, for example, Anaplan, Planful, or Prophix.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Management: Implement and maintain robust cost accounting systems, documenting production costs and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Variance Analysis: Analyze manufacturing costs and provide regular reporting that compares standard vs. actual performance to identify trends and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Operational Partnership: Serve as the facility's financial leader, collaborating with plant management to resolve production challenges and align financial insights with business strategy.
  • Financial Reporting: Lead the month-end close process for the facility, ensuring the accuracy of production costs, inventory valuations, and financial statements.
  • Asset Stewardship: Safeguard company assets (capital, inventory, and cash) by enforcing the corporate authorization matrix and maintaining rigorous internal controls.
  • Inventory Control: Direct inventory accuracy through consistent policies, including the implementation and oversight of a formal cycle counting program.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Partner with Corporate Finance to develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts, with a primary focus on Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and inventory levels.
  • Systems Oversight: Act as the ERP subject matter expert for the facility, optimizing systems and procedures to ensure accurate manufacturing cost reporting.
  • Audit & Compliance: Lead all inventory and cost-related audits, ensuring full compliance with internal financial policies and GAAP.
  • Internal Communication: Communicate financial results and performance metrics to plant employees to foster a culture of financial transparency and accountability.
