About the role : CAAS service helps our clients transform their Business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs. CLA is looking to hire a Controller for our nonprofit Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS) practice in Central Eastern Illinois. Opportunities are available in our Champaign, Peoria, Bloomington, Dixon, Kanas City, Chicagoland and Indianapolis. As a Controller, you will: Act as the Controller for the designated clients you service. Take on the role of consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements. Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines. Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations. Foster and build opportunities and attend industry-leading events and trainings. Maintain knowledge of the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards. Advise management on short-term and long term-financial objectives, policies, and actions.

Requirements

  • Six years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in the nonprofit industry is highly preferred.
  • CPA certification is preferred but not required.
  • Prior project management and client management experience preferred but not required.
