About The Position

Cherry Bekaert has partnered with a mid-sized trade services organization in the suburbs of Chicago that is searching for a Controller on a permanent basis. This role will be the top finance and accounting profession in the organization and will be responsible for leading, training, and completing the accounting and finance function on an in-office basis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related major from a reputable institution
• 10+ years of experience in accounting, including 3 at a Manager/Director level
• Experience with Quickbooks Online
• Previous leadership experience to hire, train, develop, and keep key employees
• Ability to describe finance functions and how they align to organizational goals
• “Can do” attitude to support organizational goals
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excel skills to include vlookups, macros, and other automated functionality
• Strategic goal-setting thinker to help guide the organization into the future

Nice To Haves

• CPA and/or public accounting experience is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Oversight of all finance and accounting functions, to include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger
• Leading team of 3 accountants
• Financial reporting for multiple entities and funds
• Compliance activities within the accounting department
• Representation of the finance organization on the leadership team
• Presenting monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting and analytics to executive team
• Other duties as assigned
