About The Position

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting in a healthcare environment. This role manages day-to-day accounting functions, supports regulatory compliance, and maintains strong internal controls to promote sound financial stewardship and high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of accounting experience, including 6 years in healthcare or public accounting auditing healthcare institutions
  • Minimum 5 years in a management or supervisory role
  • Expertise in healthcare accounting, GAAP, and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and internal controls
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage and motivate accounting teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA) or CPA certification highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting tasks, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow) for accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Review and interpret financial and statistical data for CFO and leadership.
  • Collaborate with departments on budgeting and forecasting; oversee record retention and bank reconciliations.
  • Review monthly and year-end accruals; analyze financial data for trends and variances.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating financial policies to control revenue and expenditures.
  • Support annual budget review and implementation; establish control plans through formal budgeting.
  • Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors for year-end processes.
  • Recommend and develop accounting systems for accurate reporting; monitor reimbursement methodologies.
  • Maintain control over accounts receivable reconciliation processes.
  • Supervise and mentor finance and accounting teams, including hiring, training, and performance reviews.
  • Provide educational programs on financial management for hospital leadership.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
